Courses:

The following Courses are offered under distance mode.

  • International Post Graduate Diploma in Life Insurance (IPGDLI)
  • International Post Graduate Diploma in General Insurance (IPGDGI)
  • International Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management (IPGDRM)

Eligibility:

Graduate Degree in any discipline (including Engg and Management) from a recognized university / Institute candidate with professional qualifications like CA, ICWAI, CS are also eligible.

Step 1: Admissions are open into IPGD Distance Learning program on continuous basis, twice in a year i.e., JANUARY batch and JULY batch.

  • January Batch:
    Applications received from 1st July to 31st December will be considered for admission into JANUARY batch. The application registration fee is Rs 500/- payable by way of demand draft favouring IIRM (or) pay online from the IIRM web site, before 31st December.

    These candidates will be eligible for appearing contact classes/examinations in the months of June / July. (Schedule will be notified on the webpage 1 month in advance).

  • July Batch:
    Applications received from 1st January to 30th June will be considered for admission into JULY batch. The application registration fee is Rs 500/- payable by way of demand draft favouring IIRM (or) pay online from the IIRM web site, before 30th June.

    These candidates will be eligible for appearing contact classes/examinations in the months of December / January. (Schedule will be notified on the webpage 1 month in advance).

Step 2: Candidates desirous of taking admission in the distance Courses of the Institute are advised to go through the information provided on the website thoroughly and once satisfied, apply for admission.

Step 3: Interested candidates have to submit online application form on our website or through submitting the filled in application form (download the Application form from
website:
www.theiirm.ac.in Distance Education) to IIRM.

The application is considered upon payment of application fee only.

Step 5: Applications are placed before the admissions
committee of IIRM and selected candidates will be informed in a week.

Candidates applying from outside India should observe the following:

The following amounts are to be paid by students residing outside India (foreign / NRI students) in form of Demand Draft drawn on IIRM on any bank in India

  • Registration Fee of US $30 along with their filled-in Application Forms
  • Course Fee of US $ 2500 to be paid in lumpsum within the stipulated date.
  • There is no fee for appearing for the Exams for the first time.
  • Study and other reading material will be sent to the bonafide students by air-mail to the address provided by them in their Application Forms.
  • Students have to submit Assignments (if any) sent to them by the prescribed dates. Only those who submit them to the Institute on time will be permitted to appear for the Exams.
  • A student who is admitted to a distance course should pass all subjects and obtain Diploma within a period of two years – starting from the year of his/her enrolment, after which period the admission gets automatically lapsed.
  • IIRM has no appointed agents overseas for this or any other Programme.

Value-wise the IPGD course accreditations are as below:

IRDAI: Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has accorded recognition to IPGD Insurance courses of IIRM, on par with Fellowship of Insurance Institute of India (III), Mumbai, as suitable qualifications for Insurance services sector.

Our General Insurance Diploma will enable the awardees to apply for Surveyor/Loss assessor license from IRDAI.

CII, London: We are an accredited member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London. Those who pass IIRM- International PG Diploma are eligible for credit points from CII, London leading to Dip. CII, provided they write one subject with CII, London at their diploma level.

The International Post-Graduate Diploma in Insurance courses is so designed that the graduates of this PG Diplomas would contribute effectively to the progress of their organizations and society. International Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management (IPGDRM)

The forces of liberalization and globalization are leading to rapid economic development and progress. The increased opportunities also bring myriad risks. Organizations have realized that, in order to perform under this environment, they must increasingly be competent in identifying and managing risks. IPGDRM is designed for those who wish to be forefront in this expanding and challenging field. The course provides specialized knowledge for professional careers involving in managing risks in financial institutions such as insurance and banks. There are 6 subjects in this course.

Study Material:

Every student admitted to a Course is provided with study material for each Subject.

Maximum Period for Completion, of Course:

A student who is admitted to a distance course should pass all subjects and obtain Diploma within a period of two years, starting from the year of his enrolment, after which his/her admission gets automatically lapsed.

Jurisdiction:

All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Hyderabad.

For IPGD LI/GI/RM :

India based candidates: Course fee for each Course is Rs. 1,00,000/- + GST which should be paid in lumpsum or two equal installments before the scheduled date by means of a DD favouring IIRM, Hyderabad payable at any scheduled bank in Hyderabad or candidates may also pay online via payu portal by clicking on the “PayFee” icon on the IIRM web page.

Identity Card: Each candidate will be issued an Identity card with his photograph / signature / Roll number etc., for academic purposes.

Non Resident Indian Candidates(Special Category):
Course fee is Rs. 1,30,000/- + GST, which should be paid in lumpsum or two equal installments.

Forein Students:
Course fee is USD 2,500/- + GST, which should be paid in lumpsum at the time of admission.

  • Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Course fee is subject to revision any time at the discretion of IIRM.
  • Exam Fee: There is no Exam Fee for appearing Exams for the first time.
  • Rs. 1000/- + GST for each paper has to be paid for appearing Re-sit Exams conducted for those who failed to secure 55% in any subject.

Contact Classes : 

 Yearly twice – June / July & December / January.

  • Contact classes are conducted just before Exams for 6/7 days for all the 6 subjects at IIRM campus, Hyderabad and it is advisable to attend the same for your benefit, immediately followed by examinations.

Examinations are held at IIRM campus, Hyderabad. There is no other exam center.

  • Duration of each paper is 3 hours and type of the examination is subjective.

  • Pass-mark: A student is declared as passed in Exams only if he secures 55% marks in each of the subjects offered. As per IIRM rules there is no provision for recounting / revaluation of answer scripts.
  • Re-sit Exams: Those who fail to secure 55% marks in a subject will have the facility to appear Re-sit Exams. To avail of this facility, student has to pay Rs.1000 for each subject.
  • Improvement: In respect of passed candidates, there is no system of seeking to write exams again for improvement of grades/marks.

Note: Outstation students have to make their own arrangements for their travel, boarding, lodging etc,.

Why should I join IIRM?

IIRM is an initiative of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The management board of the Institute is headed by the chairman of IRDAI. The Institute is therefore based on solid foundation and is in a position to offer quality education.

If I join a course of the Institute what academic help would I get?
Each student admitted to a Course of the institute will be provided with study material and also a list of reference books to be consulted.

What are Accreditations?

IPGD courses are accredited by CII, London, III, Mumbai and IRM, London. After successful completion of IPG Diploma from IIRM, candidates are eligible for DIP CII from CII, London provided they write 1 subject at CII Diploma level. As per the recent policy changes CII would be granting a maximum of 140 credits leading to DIP CII. Similarly, the candidates would also be eligible for AIII from III, Mumbai provided they comply with requisite rules. In respect of IRM, London the candidates are eligible for direct entry to their entry level certification in IRM, London. The accreditation eligibility criteria are subject to changes as per the policies of the respective agencies detailed above.

Where should I appear for Dip CII examinations?

CII London conducts examinations twice in a year at several centers spread all over the globe. Since IIRM is an accredited institution of CII, it is chosen as one of the Exam Centres for Dip CII examinations. Therefore, you can appear Dip CII examinations at IIRM Campus, Hyderabad.

What Courses are offered by the Institute under Distance mode?

IIRM offers three Courses:

  • International Postgraduate Diploma in Life Insurance (IPGDLI) and
  • International Postgraduate Diploma in General Insurance (IPGDGI) and
  • International Post Graduate Diploma In Risk Management (IPGDRM)
How can I know that I am eligible for admission to these Courses?

To be eligible for the distance Courses of the Institute, you should have a minimum Graduate degree in any discipline (including Engineering / Management). Candidates with professional qualifications like CA, ICWA, CS are also eligible.

What are the criteria for selection of candidates for admission?

3 years Graduate degree holder from any recognized university is eligible for applying (or) 10+2+3 year of study. And also pass in professional courses like C.A., ICWAI & CS.

Where should I appear for my Exams if I join the IIRM programme?

All Exams of the Institute are conducted offline at IIRM Hyderabad Campus only.

If I fail to secure 55% in any particular subject what should I do?

IIRM conducts re-sit Exams for those who score less than 55% in a subject which is the pass-mark.

How many chances will I get to pass the failed subjects?

You have to complete the course in all respects within a period of two years commencing from the year of enrolment i.e. in four consecutive examination chances. The institute conducts Exams twice a year.

Is there any Placement Facility for distance students?

IIRM does not offer any placement service for distance learning candidates.

Is there any provision for revaluation of Answer Scripts?

There is no provision for revaluation/recounting of answer scripts as per IIRM rules. Abundant care is taken while tabulating the marks / results.
